His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche Jigdral Yeshe Dorje was born in the early 20th century, and was a renowned body emanation of Drokben Khyechung Lotsawa, speech emanation of Yeshe Tsogyal, and mind emanation of Guru Padmasambhava. In particular, Khyechung Lotsawa emanated as many great tertons and scholar-masters throughout the centuries in Tibet. Guru Padmasambhava predicted the coming of His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, including his exact birthplace, family, and personality.
H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche became one of the great masters of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as the supreme head of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. He worked closely with H.H. the Dalai Lama to reactivate Tibetan culture and religion. Yet at the same time, Dudjom Rinpoche was very humble and simple. He was the spiritual father to numerous distinguished practitioners, many of whom later became great lineage holders. He was very available to all devotees, and at their request, gave numerous pith instructions of nugget Dzogchen teachings that open the heart and mind. Through his teachings, we discover the original, innate nature of mind so we can live in the world happily and leave with tremendous confidence and signs of realization.
These teachings by His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche encapsulate the essential instructions and advice for daily practice on all of the Buddha’s teachings in general, and the three Inner Tantras in particular. The final destination of practitioners is to discover the innate absolute nature of Dzogchen. These teachings ushers us to discover this enlightened nature of Kuntuzangpo, the all-perfect present.
This meditation retreat will be held at Padma Samye Ling Retreat Center, which has extraordinary beauty and tranquility. It has clean air, spectacular views of the Catskill Mountains, and sits on meadows surrounded by forest. Deer, birds, and other inhabitants move leisurely, enjoying at their own pace. Truly, this is one of the powerful spots that offers the ancient style of traditional Tibetan monasteries with harmonious, humble, and friendly Sangha members.
