Dream Yoga Teachings and Empowerment of Chenrezig according to the great Terton Thangtong Gyalpo
May 27, 28, and 29 (Saturday-Monday)
Padma Samye Ling
Chenrezig is the buddha of compassion, love, and wisdom. Practicing on this will dispel anger, hatred, and violence while revealing the innate goodness qualities of all human beings.
The practice of Dream Yoga is designed to release and liberate duality conceptions into wisdom awareness. When we’re not hindered by duality, we see that everything is a dream because everything is constantly changing. Almost half our lives is spent sleeping, but with Dream Yoga we can use this time to truly benefit ourselves and others by redirecting and transforming our neutral dreams into positive, virtuous states of Dharma practice.

Thangtong Gyalpo (Tib. ཐང་སྟོང་རྒྱལ་པོ་, Wyl. thang stong rgyal po) aka Tsöndrü Zangpo (Tib. བརྩོན་འགྲུས་བཟང་པོ་, Wyl. brtson ‘grus bzang po) (1385-1509) was a famous Tibetan siddha who travelled extensively in China, Tibet and other eastern countries, built numerous temples and metal bridges and founded monasteries at Dergé and elsewhere.
He is said to be an emanation of the mind aspect of Guru Rinpoche, as well as an incarnation of Dolpopa Sherab Gyaltsen.
His name, Thangtong Gyalpo, means King of the Empty Plain. While he was engaged in meditation in the Gyede Plain in Tsang, he had a vision of five dakinis, who approached him and sang verses of praise. One of the verses says:
- “On the great spreading plain
- The yogin who understands emptiness
- Sits like a fearless king
- Thus we name him King of the Empty Plain.”
Ven. Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche is a holder of the complete Buddhist Nyingma lineage of study and practice. He was enthroned by H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche as a Nyingma Abbot. As an accomplished scholar and Vajrayana master, Rinpoche has an amazing ability to convey profound topics simply and directly, making the rich, vast ocean of Dharma accessible and easy to put into practice.
