Teachings on the Prajnaparamitaby Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche
June 8 and 9, 2011
7:15pm both evenings
Yeshe Tsogyal House
419 East Iris Drive, Nashville
The Prajnaparamita, or “Perfection of Wisdom,” is one of the most famous teachings in the Mahayana school of Buddhism. It describes the nature of reality as it is, and is the basis of the bodhisattva path, as well as the view and meditation in Vajrayana Buddhism. This teaching represents the second turning of the Wheel of Dharma given by Buddha Shakyamuni, which unites wisdom and compassion as bodhichitta. By studying, contemplating, and meditating on these profound teachings, one will come to fully understand and absorb this Perfection of Wisdom. This is a rare opportunity to receive these lineage instructions according the Nyingma tradition from Venerable Khenpo Tsewang Rinpoche.
Over the course of these two evenings, Venerable Khenpo Tsewang Rinpoche will give teachings on the Prajnaparamita, as well as instructions on the practice, mantra, and meditation of the Heart Sutra, a condensed recitation of the Prajnaparamita, whereby one releases all disturbing thoughts and emotions to reveal the true nature of the mind and it’s environment. We will use the Buddha Sadhana (available in our bookstore) and our regular practice book (provided). The event will be held in a tent in back of Yeshe Tsogyal House, chairs provided.
