Born on the world‰۪s highest plateaus in Tibet, Venerable Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche began an extraordinary life as a Tibetan Buddhist monk learning mindfulness, meditation, and philosophy taught by the Buddha. By studying and practicing the vast Buddhist literature on the science of mind, Khenpo Rinpoche developed his understanding and wisdom. In 1959, the invasion of armies across the borders of eastern Tibet sent him on a heroic journey across the Himalayas with his small family, traveling from his mountain homeland to safety in India. Several years later he studied in the Sanskrit and Tibetan Universities in Varanasi, India where he completed his training. Khenpo Rinpoche was enthroned by HH Dudjom Rinpoche as an abbot in the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. In 1980 he came to New York where he and his revered brother, Ven. Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche (1938-2010) founded the Padmasambhava Buddhist Center. The PBC Nashville branch is one of the many centers in the USA, and was established in 1990. Khenpo Rinpoche is an expert of Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana Buddhism, and is a master of Dzogchen. He is the author of several learned works in Tibetan, and has co-authored over 25 Dharma books in English.
The annual Light Mandala for World Peace and a silent auction will proceed and follow Khenpo Rinpoche’s talk.
