March 29, 2014 - April 27, 2014

Flight of the Garuda (Kading Shoglab) by Lama ShabkarOne Month Dzogchen Retreat at Padma Samye Ling
with Venerable Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche
March 29 – April 26, 2014
This is the 1st of three years that Khenpo Tsewang Rinpoche will lead a PSL One Month Retreat on Flight of the Garuda. After these three years, those who have completed their Ngondro Preliminary practices, and have the necessary prerequisites will be able to attend the following PSL One Month Retreat on extensive Dzogchen teachings and practices of Togal “Leaping Over” led by Ven. Khenpo Tsewang Rinpoche.
Flight of the Garuda poetically conveys the heart advice Dzogchen Tekcho and Togal practices by of one of the most beloved nonsectarian masters of Tibet, Shabkar Tsokdruk Rangdrol. Shabkar was a venerated and loved yogi whose life exemplified Milarepa, of whom he is held to be a reincarnation. Lama Shabkar was born in the province of Amdo in north eastern Tibet during the last century. Ordained as a Gelug monk, the great yogi Shabkar was renowned for his teachings on Dzogchen, the heart practice of the Nyingma lineage. He wandered the countryside of Tibet and Nepal, turning many minds toward the Dharma through his ability to communicate the essence of the teachings in a poetic and crystal-clear way. Flight of the Garuda was sung by Shabkar as a spontaneous doha that conveys an unfettered explanation of the Dzogchen view.
Following in the footsteps of the ancient lineage of Nyingmapas, we will put these rare and precious teachings into practice with joy and devotion. Held in noble silence, this retreat is arranged to provide a space to receive the pith instructions and deepen personal Dzogchen meditation with the guidance of Ven. Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche.
