On Saturday, January 19th from 10:00am to 12:00, Lama Laia will offer a Dharma talk on the “Four Seals of the Dharma” and lead a “Buddha Sadhana” practice by Mipham Rinpoche. What distinguishes the Dharma as such is the presence of ‰ÛÏfour seals‰ or ‰ÛÏfour marks‰ [bka‰۪ rtags kyi phyag rgya bzhi] that separate worldly teachings from transcendent ones. These are often stated as follows: (1) ‰ÛÏall compounded things are impermanent,‰ (2) ‰ÛÏall afflictive emotions are of the nature of suffering,‰ (3) ‰ÛÏall phenomena are empty and devoid of a self-identity,‰ and (4) ‰ÛÏnirvana is peace‰ or ‰ÛÏnirvana is beyond extremes.‰
We continue have open meditation practice at 513 Willow Avenue every Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:15. Once a month we are visited by one of the Lamas from Padma Samye Ling Buddhist Retreat Center to be led in practice and receive instruction.
