Rising 100 feet into the sky, the Great Miracle Stupa commemorates Buddha Shakyamuni’s activities in this auspicious location, and is just 5 miles from the original stupa. Intended to last 1,000 years, radiating the energy of love and compassion to all beings, the rebuilt stupa temple houses a large stone Buddha and is made of the finest materials available in India today.
A collection of relics representing Buddha’s body, speech, and mind are housed in its core, as well as precious and sacred objects from Tibet and special acupuncture locations across the world.
Representing Buddha’s body are three solid granite statues of Buddha Shakyamuni, in sizes ranging from three to five feet, hand-carved by highly skilled craftsmen specifically for this purpose. Additionally, there are many small statues of Buddha and Guru Rinpoche, along with many tsa tsas of Buddhist deities such as Amitabha, Guru Padmasambhava, Chenrezig, Buddha Shakyamuni, and Tara.
Representing Buddha’s speech are hundreds of copies of the entire Kangyur and Tangyur and 21 copies of the Rinchen Terzod, a collection of terma teachings of Buddha, Guru Padmasambhava, and other great masters of India and Tibet, all on CD-ROM. Speech is also represented by millions of mantras of Guru Padmasambhava, Amitabha, Chenrezig, Manjushri, Tara, Akshobya, Buddha Shakyamuni, Vajrasattva, and many others.
Representing Buddha’s mind are more than 100,000 tsa tsas of the eight great stupas, as well as dorjes, bells, phurbas, and other secret ritual objects.
The central chamber contains many rare and precious relics, such as pieces of clothing worn by Guru Rinpoche, handwriting of Yeshe Tsogyal and the great translator Vairochana, hair and many personal objects belonging to His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, bone relics from Longchenpa and many great tertons, and a Buddha Kashyapa terma fragment. Precious stones, waters from holy lakes, and blessed objects complete the auspicious contents of the Miracle Stupa.

“Seasoned practitioners are called “spiritual warriors.” They do not earn this title by practicing all by themselves, sitting on the porch eating Häagen-Dazs ice cream. They interact with Sangha members, and with other sentient beings, too. They invite the spontaneous and chaotic into their lives. And they love challenges. They meet them by remaining aware, by letting go, and by speaking and acting in ways that are always appropriate and beneficial.”
