In Celebration of Vesak, honoring the Birth, Enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana of Buddha Shakyamuni, Ven. Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche was invited to offer prayers and light a butter lamp at the White House in Washington D.C. on May 5, 2023!

It was an auspicious gathering of Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana Sangha members, hosted by the Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff. Ambassadors from the countries of Cambodia, Nepal, Thailand, and Sri Lanka were present, alongside delegations from India, Indonesia, and Mongolia.

There was also a lunar eclipse that same day, similar to when the Buddha attained enlightenment.
