Question: Having received so many teachings and empowerments, how can we possibly practice them all?
Answer: Yes, we have received many teachings and empowerments. Now we must synthesize and condense everything, and practice the essence. To do this, begin every practice by cultivating loving-kindness and compassion for all sentient beings. In the Vajrayana, when you visualize the deity and chant mantras, you also cultivate what is known as the “three vajras:” realization of the complete purity and perfection of the entire universe as wisdom body, wisdom speech, and wisdom mind. Realize that compassion, the three vajras, deity, and mantra are all empty. Then dedicate the merit. This is the essence of every practice.”
