“During the Buddha’s lifetime, his teachings were very strongly developed and continually spread by many great arhats through love, compassion, joy, and appreciation. They carried his message of love, compassion, and wisdom all over India and into different countries. There were no wars or crusades, and no force was used to spread the Buddha’s teachings. Rather, these various countries requested the Buddha, or whoever was holding the Buddhist teachings at that particular time, to please help them extend this beautiful teaching of love, kindness, compassion, and understanding further. According to their requests and wishes, many great Buddhist masters and teachers traveled to the countries neighboring India, and out of love, helped spread the teachings widely.”
