“Sambhogakaya buddhas reside in the pure land of Akanishtha, which is not a location, but the domain of the all-pervasive true nature. Sambhogakaya nature pervades all directions, all times, and all places. It’s not contained by temporal or spatial boundaries. It is the creative wisdom energy of everything in the universe—the entire expanse of the dharmadhatu. Akanishtha definitely isn’t a place that has a geographical location. It is a pure land that’s never far away. There’s a famous quote by the great master Longchenpa which introduces Akanishtha: “If somebody asks: ‘Where is the place of wakefulness? What is the location of wakefulness?’ Wherever we wake up, that is the place.” Wherever we remove duality and ignorance, that place is Akanishtha. Akanishtha is no further away from us than the instant we completely wake up to our own wisdom awareness.”
