“Whenever we’re practicing Dharma, it’s very important to bring the attitudes of joy, appreciation, and devotion to our practice. Of course, everyone starts practicing with joy. However, sooner or later we may lose sight of the joy and appreciation part: with the passage of time, with boredom or fatigue, or under the pressure of difficulties and troubles. This is why we invoke our lama as our “constant protector.” His or her help will assist us to keep going at these times. We must reactivate our joy and appreciation again and again.”
